Finnegan's Mom Pippa came to Starfish Equine Rescue pregnant with no information on how far along she was or her condition. She needed emergency eye removal from an old injury and a tooth that was seriously infected. Pippa received the proper care she needed once she was in our hands. After 30 days of being in our care, Pippa gave birth to beautiful colt named Finn. Unfortunately Finn suffered from "Dummy Foal Syndrome". Finn was rushed to the emergency equine hospital with his mom shortly after birth due to his quick decline in health. Despite all efforts Finn passed away peacefully with his mom close by. His mom remained at the hospital until she was ready to come home. In memory of Finn the rescue opened a consignment tack shop so more horses could be brought into our care. We hope to save as many more horses in the upcoming years. We couldn't do it without your generous support. To read about dummy foal syndrome click the link below.

Holly was in really bad shape when we pulled her from the auction; however, we wanted her to have a chance. Unfortunately Holly continued to get worse and the Equine Veterinary hospital had exhausted all efforts to turn her around . Holly passed away peacefully, and can finally be free of pain.
We are a horse rescue but Petunia was found in the road cold and in shock. She was a young piglet who was shown as much love and care as we could give her.Even if it was only for the short time she was with us. She was treated at a local animal hospital with our hopes that she could have a good outcome. Although it wasn't the outcome we wanted, she was able to be laid to rest peacefully.
Pippa had a rough week in December 2020 after continuous visits to the equine hospital. She told us that she was uncomfortable and not adjusting well to her vision loss in her one and only eye. Today she went to see her Vet at New Bolton. Due to the pain of her eye and Pippa becoming completely blind we decided to lay her to rest. Pippa and Finn are together again in heaven. Pippa girl we love you. Please give Finn hugs and kisses from all of us.
